Screening of Who am I ? What happened ? by Eugénie Zély made in Marfa, Texas - 2024

Two girls in a Western desert. One kills the other, one loves the other. This film is a journey: across the desert, through mourning, love and hate, through proletarian American literature (embodied by the figure of Dorothy Allison), through the building of a friendship, through a present: the autumn of 2024. This film is an exploration of what Varda called, in the course of an interview, ‘a cinema of memories’.

Eugénie Zély is an artist and author. She published Thune Amertume Fortune with Burn août in 2022. She created and directs the literary magazine C'est les vacances, also published by Burn août. She regularly writes critical texts for artists and exhibitions, for which she won the Prix Pierre Giquel for art criticism in 2023. She is developing a multimedia visual work in direct relation to her literary work. Her visual work has been the subject of several exhibitions. She is currently working on two novels: La même en pire and La vie que je mène et que je déteste. She has taught creative writing and video at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Nantes. Her work in video, performance, objects and drawings tends to sketch out ontologies: of character, context and fiction.

She was born in 1993 and still lives in the rural area where she grew up.
